The Freedom Press has served as the voice of Britain’s anarchist movement for more than 130 years, serving up its readers a steady stream of radical literature and urging them to “fight the rich”.
So the self-avowed “disbelievers in property” behind the publishing house were left somewhat puzzled to discover that it had been “ripped off” to promote a new £65 million Hilton hotel.
The co-operative’s name and history inspired the Freedom Café, a swanky cocktail bar featuring velvet sofas and gold detailing where guests were offered anarchist-themed cocktails for £14 and bottles of champagne costing £165.
