McKinley was shot by Leon Czolgosz, an American-born anarchist who called McKinley “an enemy of the good, working people.” Does that sound vaguely familiar? Although the song includes the lines “they tried to make me trust him and they tried to get me scared,” and “He was a rotten bastard and I’m happy that he’s dead,” it was penned in 2014, when everyone was snickering at the idea of a President Trump.
