Decades in the Struggle: Eric Laursen

Documenting the lives and work of older anarchist thinkers, writers, and activists

Agency collective member Eric Laursen was interviewed by Philip Zura on July 14, 2025 as part of the “Decades in the Struggle” project.

Eric Laursen is an independent journalist, historian, and activist. He is the author of The People’s Pension, The Duty to Stand Aside, The Operating System, and Polymath. His work has appeared in a wide variety of publications, including In These Times, The Nation, and The Arkansas Review. He lives in Buckland, Massachusetts.

Agency is posting this interview in our Commentary section to help amplify this important series that aims to collect, preserve, and disseminate the stories of anarchist and anarchist-adjacent thinkers, writers, and activists—aged 60 (approximately) and older, who are fluent in spoken English—in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and beyond.
