Organizers of the peaceful demonstrations said they were caught off-guard by the anarchist splinter group, which observers said corrupts the message of civil disobedience.
“When the more radicalized folks when into the streets – a lot of these people didn’t intend on being a part of being breaking windows, turning over garbage cans, that kind of thing,” said Mawuli Davis.
